7Adam, Adam Park
7adam_story7Adam aims to mix the worlds of art and food in a concept restaurant housed in a black and white colonial house. Here, you’ll be given the chance to sample modern bistro cuisine from consulting chef Jimmy Chok, while perusing art to purchase.

The artworks are displayed throughout the restaurant, and are all for sale – the exhibits are changed every eight to 10 weeks, and feature a mix of local and regional artists. From January to March, look out for a special exhibition by Singapore’s own child artists Dawn Kwan, alongside well-known batik artists, Sujak Rahman.

With more than 30 items on the menu, including desserts, the wide range will cater to every palate. Some of the popular items include the crab cakes with tomato chilli jam and seared tuna loin with avocado salsa. Highlights from the mains include braised wagyu beef cheek with mash, duck confit with Szechuan pepper salt and pan fried sea bass with tomato kaffir lime salsa.

Unfortunately, each dish isn’t a work of art like the paintings on the wall – this fairly new establishment could use a bit more time in refining the dishes. Some of the accompaniments (like the avocado salsa in the seared tuna loin) were too mild to balance the fish. The lamb shank and wagyu beef cheek were both overly drizzled in a similar sauce, making it hard to distinguish between the two.

The drinks didn’t quite fare any better – the Ladies’ Desire was sickly sweet, while the Mint Margarita seemed to be missing the essential ingredient of mint.
