Savour
Savour_pageThe less-than-rosy global economic situation isn’t necessarily bad news. Not if you’re talking about affordable, star-studded cuisine, happening right here on our sunny shores. From 30 March to 1 April, masterchefs the likes of Alain Passard, Hans Valimaki and Enrique Olvera will join other leading chefs and vintners from Europe, Asia, Central and South America in the inaugural Savour festival, a three-day food and wine fiesta that’s set to inject a much-needed boost of adrenaline to the local gourmet festival scene.

The range of experiences promises to be diverse. Start at the al fresco Gourmet Village and chart your culinary journey through the different restaurants, where dishes are priced between $6 to $21. Begin with an appetiser from local French restaurant Gunther’s, progress to an entrée from Paris’ L’Arpege before continuing with a main from Helsinki’s Chez Dominique, and rounding off with dessert from Mexico’s Pujol. When you’ve had your fill, make your way to the indoor Gourmet Market, where there will be top epicurean and innovative products to sample and purchase, plus a host of interesting beverage tastings and talks on subjects as diverse as cake decorating, party planning and wellness. That’s not all. Should all that eating take its toll, head on over to the Gourmet Auditorium, kick back, and enjoy the series of free culinary masterclasses. Tickets are priced at $40 (lunch session), $60 (dinner session) and include complimentary access to masterclasses, workshops and demonstrations at the Gourmet Village, Gourmet Market, Gourmet Auditorium and Wine Theatre, plus Savour dollars to spend.

Stay tuned for your chance to win tickets to Savour, only for Appetite readers.
