savour-localchefs_storyIn a gourmet festival unlike any other, Savour 2012 is giving you the chance to experience new and different culinary creations all in one location. With a host of star-studded cuisine from international masterchefs and local icons, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Here we’ll take a closer look at the chefs from Singapore participating in this exciting event.

 

 

Chef Chan Kwok, Hua Ting

Chef Chan joined Hua Ting in 1997 and was promoted from Master Chef to Group Master Che – but his introduction to the industry started at age 17 when he started as an apprentice. As the driving force with a wealth of talent, Chef Chan provides Hua Ting’s patrons with its signature Cantonese cuisine, from highly sought-after dim sum to exquisite seafood delights.

 

Douglas Tay – Osia

Chef Tay is a multi award-winning chef, having won several gold medals at the Culinary Olympics and Western Australia Oceanafest 2009, and then earning second place at the WACS Global Chefs Challenge 2009, Asia Finals, and was a nominee at the 2008 Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards for Most Passionate Western Cuisine Chef. His novel out-of-the-box culinary ideas and use of the freshest ingredients provides Osia’s patrons with a truly extraordinary culinary experience.

 

Emmanuel Stroobant – ES Group

Driven by passion and pursuing innovative techniques and ingredients to use in his restaurants under the Emmanuel Stroobant Group. He constantly revamps his menu according to each restaurant’s distinctive atmosphere, highlighting what he feels is the best of the four seasons in his dishes.

 

Gunther Hubrechsen – Gunther’s

Consecutively nominated as San Pellegrino’s Chef of the Year in 2009, 2010 and 2011, Gunther’s is also listed in S. Pellegrino’s World’s 100 Best Restaurants list. His passion and creativity translates into modern takes on French cuisine, where he loves to explore ways of cooking to make fine-dining more enjoyable and relaxed.

 

Julien Royer – JAAN

Simple, but beautiful, featuring the freshest ingredients – that’s Chef Royer’s philosophy when it comes to culinary tradition and his creativity. Inspired by the Artisanal Cuisine Movement, his search for the very best products results in an imaginative, innovative cuisine that reflects the best of the season. Having trained under famous names such as Antonin Bonnet, Bernard Andrieux and the legendary three-star Michelin chef Michel Bras, Chef Royer has brought a new level of dining to JAAN.

 

Roberto Galetti – Garibaldi

With more than twenty years of experience in the kitchen, Chef Galetti’s expertise is Garibaldi’s patron’s gain. His traditional Italian fare is one of the most sought after in Singapore.

 

Sam Leong – Forest

Chef Leong has helmed several renowned establishments over the last 26 years. He was formerly the Executive chef of Jiang Nan Chun at Four Seasons Hotel, Director of Kitchens and Corporate Chef at Tung Lok Group, and has penned several cookbooks. He’s also won Chef of the Year at Hospitality Asia Plantinum Awards (2006 and 2007) and the Five Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences. Now spearheading a new theatre-dining concept, Forest, Chef Leong continues to deliver his unique Chinese-Thai cuisine.

 

Sasha Kutuzova – Buyan Russian Restaurant and Caviar Bar

Even though she’s got a degree in criminology, Chef Kutuzova discovered food and cooking as a passion, and eventually trained under Russian celebrity restaurateur Arkady Novikov, where she learnt all the ins and outs of the restaurant business. At Buyan, she prides herself in recreating authentic Russian dishes that date back more than a century, inherited from her great-grandmother.

 

Takashi Tomie – Enmaru

Chef Tomie was the executive chef that led the Japanese team to win the nationwide Izakaya Koshien 2010, which crowns the best in the nation. As Enmaru’s head chef, he has created a menu that is quintessentially Japanese, showcasing the best flavours and textures that makes this restaurant so loved.
